Obesity is not only a problem for people in this country, it is also a problem for dogs. Obesity is quickly becoming the leading diagnosis of dogs (and cats) across the country. Overweight dogs are unhealthy dogs. Chronically overweight or obese dogs develop joint problems, heart and lung disease, diabetes, and dental disease. All of these things can lead to shorter lifespans and unhappy dogs. Help for the Hefties is a program designed to help the dogs lose weight.
Whether it is a few extra pounds or double the ideal weight, this program can help. Help for the Hefties is an individualized plan that starts out slow and works at a pace your dog can handle. As your dog begins to lose weight and build both muscle and endurance, the sessions will get longer and more frequent.
Help for the Hefities looks at all the aspects that contribute to their weight problem. Their diet (how much and how often they eat), treat intake, and their activity level are all things I take into consideration. Looking at everything allows me to make a plan to help your dog lose the weight in a safe and healthy way.
*Help for the Hefties requires written permission from your veterinarian, stating that your dog is healthy enough to begin a mild exercise program. I also need a copy of the most recent checkup so that I can take any potential health risks into account. Helping your dog trim down is an amazing way to build your relationship in a positive manner so that you can enjoy many years together!
